Safeguarding - Key Information
St James’ Lanehead CE Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. Staff, governors and volunteers require an enhanced DBS disclosure and to undertake annual safeguarding training.
The Designated Safeguarding Lead is Mrs Martine Dallison (Pastoral Manager and Senior Leader)
The Designated Safeguarding Governor is Mrs Naomi Healey. The Chair of Governors and Vice Chair of Governors also have oversight of all safeguarding.
The Additional Designated Safeguarding Leads are Mrs Michelle Dugdale (Head Teacher), Mrs Hannah Gregory (Deputy Head Teacher), Mrs Lucy Hargreaves (Assistant Head Teacher), Miss Janine Tracey (SENCO) and Mrs Ann Hodgson (Family Support worker)
DSLs undertake external supervision from safeguarding specialists, as part of the work with the specialists all staff within EYFS have statutory supervision. We also undertake a voluntary annual safeguarding audit to ensure our policies and procedures are robust. The outcome of the audits show that the safeguarding arrangements within the school are excellent and robust.
The Designated Person for Looked After Children (CLA/LAC) is Mrs Lucy Hargreaves (Assistant Head Teacher). The Deputy Designated Teacher for Looked After Children is Mrs Hannah Gregory (Deputy Head Teacher). The Governor responsible for LAC pupils is Naomi Healey

All safeguarding documentation is read and understood (signed) by all the teaching staff, non-teaching staff and governors of St James’ Lanehead CofE Primary School. School staff have weekly updates from DSL’s.
The school uses Child Protection Online Management System (CPOMS) to report all incidents, however small, to build a full picture for every child. DSL’s have oversight of every child.
The Senior Leadership Team are responsible for the recording, implementation and tracking of all statutory updates and training requirements. Copies of all training certificates can be found in individuals personnel files. All staff undergo weekly briefings and annual training for safeguarding
The DSL and Deputy DSLs carry out induction meetings with newly appointed staff. In addition, we follow the procedures for safer recruitment. School staff and Governors undertake safer recruitment training.
A thorough induction package is followed for Volunteers and Governors to ensure key messages, policies and procedures are followed.
