Autumn 2
EYFS Year 1
What a fantastic few months we have had in Elm Class. Everyone has worked extremely hard, and we have seen some amazing results.
In Year 1, we received letters from Mrs Dugdale and the local police, who needed our help after a number of items had been nibbled. We soon found out Nibbles the Book Monster was responsible. Following this, we wrote a recount to help the police with their enquiries.
In Science, we have been finding out about materials and their properties. We looked at how liquids freeze and melt. We also investigated which materials float and which sink
In History, we compared things we use in our everyday life to what they were like years ago. We particularly enjoyed comparing how birthdays are celebrated then and now.
In Reception, we have begun learning lots of sounds and are now very good at identifying them and blending to read words. We have read lots of books linked to our topics including Diwali and The Nativity. We are now continuing to write sentences that make sense. In Maths, we have continued to learn about numbers up to 5. We can recognise, write, and represent the numbers. We particularly enjoy any activity that takes us into the provision
There are many more highlights in Elm Class including looking at differences in PSHE, exploring primary and secondary colours in Art and lots of fundamental movements In PE.
A very special thank you to everyone who helped with our nativity productions of Whoops a Daisy Angel and Mary's Knitting. We are so proud of each and every child for giving such amazing performances. What a treat to watch they were!
