As part of our preparations for Easter, Father Paul and the pupils from Years 5 and 6, have been involved in preparing a very special performance. The performance which included narration, drama, music and prayers, re-enacted the events leading up to the Last Supper.
Lexie “I think that the worship that Father Paul did today helped us understand the events of Holy Week because I think that acting it out made it easier to understand.”
Zara “I have learnt so much more about the Easter story than I have ever known. I think re-telling the story through drama helped as it ensures that we would remember what we had done.”
“The Easter Holy Week assembly was amazing. It taught me so much like Jesus exact words when He gave the bread and wine. I enjoyed being able to take part in what He was doing in the drama. Everyone took part in a different way.”
“I enjoyed being in an assembly with my class, Father Paul and class 5/6. I learned that Peter didn’t want Jesus to wash his feet, but if Jesus didn’t wash his feet, he couldn’t be one of Jesus’ followers.” Daniel O
“I found out lots of things that I didn’t know before. I found it a lot easier to understand as it was acted out.”
An Easter prayer
God of glory, by the raising of your Son you have broken the chains of death and hell: fill your Church with faith and hope; for a new day has dawned and the way to life stands open in our Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen
